There are different types of braces that are available depending on your bite and preference.
Metal Braces – Made of high-quality stainless steel, these braces are the most common because of their comfort, durability and low profile.
These small traditional braces are easy to maintain and can help your treatment go more smoothly.
Nickel-Free Metal Braces – For our patients with nickel allergies, these specially developed braces have negligible nickel content, and have the same comfort, durability, and low profile as our standard metal braces.
Ceramic Braces – Made of a white or translucent (clear) material, these braces are designed to blend into the color of your teeth, making them less noticeable than metal braces.
However due to their fragile nature, ceramic braces often take longer to move your teeth, which can increase your time in treatment.
Clear Aligners/Invisalign – Made of clear plastic, these appliances are designed to straighten your teeth without wires and brackets, and are virtually invisible.
Using clear, customized, removable plastic “trays” called aligners, your teeth will be moved in small increments every 2 weeks.
However, clear aligners should only be used on certain bite problems. Call us at (510) 668-0112 to see if clear aligners/Invisalign is right for you.
